In order to maintain some sort of order within PCI Compliance,\u00a0VISA and MasterCard have created 4 risk levels that will apply to any particular business,\u00a0for determining the risk level of a merchant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
Merchant Level<\/td>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Description<\/td>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Validation Requirements<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Level 1<\/td>\nMerchants processing over 6 million Visa transactions annually (all channels) or Global merchants identified as Level 1 by any Visa region.<\/td>\nAnnual Report on Compliance (ROC) by Qualified Security Assessor (QSA) or internal auditor if signed by officer of the company.<\/p>\n

Quarterly network scan by Approved Scan Vendor (ASV).<\/p>\n

Attestation of Compliance Form.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Level 2<\/td>\nMerchants processing 1 million to 6 million Visa transactions annually (all channels).<\/td>\nAnnual Self-Assessment Questionnaire (SAQ).<\/p>\n

Quarterly network scan by ASV.Attestation of Compliance Form.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Level 3<\/td>\nMerchants processing 20,000 to 1 million Visa e-commerce transactions annually.<\/td>\nAnnual\u00a0Self-Assessment Questionnaire (SAQ).<\/p>\n

Quarterly network scan by ASV.<\/p>\n

Attestation of Compliance Form.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Level 4<\/td>\nMerchants processing less than 20,000 Visa e-commerce transactions annually and all other merchants processing up to 1 million Visa transactions annually.<\/td>\nAnnual SAQ recommended.<\/p>\n

Quarterly network scan by ASV if applicable.<\/p>\n

Compliance validation requirements set by acquirer.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
