{"id":3390,"date":"2016-06-20T12:04:58","date_gmt":"2016-06-20T16:04:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nationaltransaction.com\/credit-card-merchant\/?p=3390"},"modified":"2023-04-28T13:05:21","modified_gmt":"2023-04-28T17:05:21","slug":"batch-or-batch-processing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nationaltransaction.com\/credit-card-merchant\/batch-or-batch-processing\/","title":{"rendered":"BATCH OR BATCH PROCESSING"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Batch &#8211;<\/strong> is a collection of credit card transactions, usually a single day\u2019s worth.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Batch Processing &#8211;<\/strong> refers to a one-time closing or settling the entire batch of transactions.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>The point-of-sale terminal or credit card processing software can be set on:<\/strong> <\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Manual Batch close &#8211;<\/strong>&nbsp;merchant will need to batch out at the end of each day. The processor will receive a command to settle all transactions that have been entered. There will be a printed report showing the transaction totals in the batch once a batch is settled.<br \/>\nChanges can be made to existing transactions in the batch before a batch is settled. Example: If you want to change an amount of one of the transactions or you want to void a transaction.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Automatic Batch close &#8211;<\/strong> The terminal or software will automatically close the batch, (settle the transactions) at a certain time each day, no manual intervention is needed by the merchant or in some case the processor will settle the batch (called host batch close at the processor level).
