Adding Tokenization Service<\/strong><\/p>\n

Important notes when adding tokenization: \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

–<\/strong> Tokens replace credit or gift card numbers.<\/p>\n

–<\/strong> The terminal must be enabled to accept tokenization.<\/p>\n

–\u00a0<\/b>Tokens are unique for each merchant, for example:<\/p>\n

The same card will produce a different token for each merchant.<\/strong><\/p>\n

–<\/strong> Merchants with multiple terminals sharing tokenization<\/strong> domains will receive the same token for a unique card and the token can be used across their stores if they wish to do so.<\/p>\n

–<\/strong> Merchants may supply the token in place of card information in any subsequent transaction.<\/p>\n

–<\/strong> Tokenization is supported for both credit cards and gift cards.<\/p>\n

Tokenization<\/strong> protects card data when it\u2019s in use and at rest. It converts or replaces cardholder data with a unique token ID to be used for subsequent transactions. This eliminates the possibility of having card data stolen because it no longer exists within your environment.<\/p>\n

Tokens can be used in card not present<\/strong> environments<\/strong> such as e-commerce<\/strong> or mail order\/telephone order (MOTO)<\/strong>, or in conjunction with encryption<\/strong> in card present<\/strong> environments<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Tokens can reside on your POS\/PMS<\/strong> or within your e-commerce infrastructure<\/strong> “at rest” and can be used to make adjustments<\/strong>, add new charges<\/strong>, make reservations<\/strong>, perform recurring transactions<\/strong>, or perform other transactions “in use”.<\/p>\n
