{"id":438,"date":"2013-09-09T12:21:57","date_gmt":"2013-09-09T12:21:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nationaltransaction.com\/credit-card-merchant\/?p=438"},"modified":"2013-09-09T12:21:57","modified_gmt":"2013-09-09T12:21:57","slug":"irs-merchant-transaction-reporting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nationaltransaction.com\/credit-card-merchant\/irs-merchant-transaction-reporting\/","title":{"rendered":"IRS Merchant Transaction Reporting"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>September 6, 2013 \u2013 The IRS recently announced that it has ruled in ETA\u2019s favor on proposed changes to IRS 6050W, merchant transaction reporting.\u00a0 ETA advocated for a one-year delay of the implementation of backup withholding (or B notice process) for merchants who have missing or incorrect TINs.\u00a0 ETA sent\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.electran.org\/irs-rules-in-favor-of-eta-on-merchant-transaction-reporting\/September%206,%202013%20-%20The%20IRS%20recently%20announced%20that%20it%20has%20ruled%20in%20ETA%E2%80%99s%20favor%20on%20proposed%20changes%20to%20IRS%206050W,%20merchant%20transaction%20reporting.%20%20ETA%20advocated%20for%20a%20one-year%20delay%20of%20the%20implementation%20of%20backup%20withholding%20(or%20B%20notice%20process)%20for%20merchants%20who%20have%20missing%20or%20incorrect%20TINs.\" target=\"_blank\">a letter<\/a>\u00a0to the IRS in May outlining the industry\u2019s strong concern about the impact on small and medium sized merchants as well as the economy as a whole if backup withholding were to be started in the fall of 2013.\u00a0 Since that letter, ETA has been engaged in ongoing communication with the IRS to amplify the message within the government.
